Description
34 and 36 Hart Street is an early 19th-century building constructed of red brick with white brick dressings. It features wide eaves and a hipped slate roof, standing three storeys tall with two windows that have sashes and glazing bars. The building has paired round-headed doors with fanlights, pilasters, and an entablature. There is a shop to the west with a cornice that extends the width of the building. The shop includes a reproduction bow window to the east and an altered 19th-century shop window to the west. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 8 (even), Nos 14 to 36 (even) including Adam House, Nos 40 and 44, and the gates and piers at 48 and 50, The Old School House, and the Rectory Garden Wall, forming a cohesive architectural ensemble with Nos 5 to 39 (odd), the Drinking Fountain, the Parish Church of St Mary, and the raised pavement at the east end of Hart Street.
