Description
Orchard Cottage is a Grade II listed building that consists of two houses now combined into one dwelling. It likely dates from the 17th century and was remodeled in the early to mid-18th century. The structure features colourwashed brick and timber framing with brick infill, topped by an old plain-tile roof with brick stacks.
The building has two 2-unit plans and is one storey plus attics. The brick front has a dentil eaves course and includes two entrances with tiled canopies, along with four segmental-arched 2-light casements. There are four gabled dormers grouped towards the left end of the roof, which has two ridge stacks and a gable stack on the left side. To the left, there is a short single-storey range that has an additional entrance and casements. The right gable wall of the main range features a stable door and a rectangular bay window supported by brackets. The rear wall of the left house is fully timber-framed, while the rear wall of the right house has first-floor framing. The interior has not been inspected.
