Description
The stables, located approximately 40 meters north of Baldon House, date back to the 18th century. They are constructed of brick with some flared headers set on a limestone rubble plinth, and feature an old plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The building is a single range, two stories high, with an eight-window front divided into three sections. The majority of the façade displays a chequer pattern, but the leftmost bay features panels of flared headers. The windows have segmental arches and are arranged irregularly; on the first floor, there are five two-light casements, two loft doors, and one blind window. The ground floor includes three stable doors, three horizontal-sliding sash windows, and two 20th-century garage entrances. The roof is half-hipped to the right. The blank rear wall borders a churchyard and has a datestone on the latest section, inscribed with the year 1775. Inside, several 18th-century and early 19th-century loose boxes are still present. The stables are included for their group value.
