Description
This dovecote, located approximately 90 meters east of Baldon House, dates from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of brick set on a limestone rubble plinth, featuring some flared headers, and is topped with an old plain-tile roof. The building has a rectangular plan, with a front that includes a segmental-arched entrance and projecting eaves courses. The end walls have small gable openings. The roof is adorned with a central tiled glover that has shaped spandrels. Inside, all walls are lined with nesting boxes, and remnants of a timber framework can be seen in front of the boxes, which once provided perches and possibly access to the boxes.
