Description

Winterbrook House is a mid-18th century house in Cholsey. It is constructed of grey brick with red brick dressings, and has an old plain-tile roof hipped to the right, with brick end stacks. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front. The central entrance features a six-panel door flanked by painted wood Doric pilasters supporting a triangular pediment. All windows are 12-pane unhorned sashes. A brick band runs between the ground and first floors, and below the parapetted eaves. Three hipped dormers light the attic space. The interior has not been inspected. Winterbrook House was formerly the home of Dame Agatha Christie, the crime novelist.
