Description
Merton Lodge and Sandford Lodge are a pair of semi-detached houses built in the early 19th century. They feature lined render on brick and a Welsh slate roof, with a central brick ridge stack. The houses are two storeys tall with an attic and have a four-window range, with the centre two bays projecting forward. The end corners and the projecting centre have quoins. Each house has a four-panel door with a square flat-roofed porch supported by square Doric columns on either side. The central section has two 16-pane unhorned sash windows with architrave surrounds and a cornice on brackets, while the first floor has 12-pane unhorned sash windows with architrave surrounds. There is a shaped cornice at the eaves and a pedimented cross-gable at the centre that contains a two-light wood casement. Arched staircase windows are located on the left and right returns. The interiors have not been inspected.
