Description

East End House is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is built of English bond grey brick with red brick quoins and dressings, and features a chalk rubble left side wall. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and has brick stacks. The house has a double-depth plan and is designed in an early Georgian style, standing two storeys high with a five-window range.

A notable feature is the fine stone doorcase, which includes fluted pilasters and a segmental pediment above a 20th-century door. There is a gauged brick round arch above a sash window located above the door, and gauged brick flat arches over the other sash windows. A gauged brick string course and eaves band can be seen beneath the parapet. The roof is gabled with symmetrical end stacks.

To the right side wall, there is a 20th-century entrance. At the rear left, there is an early 18th-century two-storey wing made of chalk rubble with brick quoins and dressings, topped with a gabled 20th-century tile roof and featuring a two-light cross window. The rear right wing is two-storey, rendered, with a gabled Welsh slate roof and a right lateral stack. The rear and interior have not been inspected but are likely to be of interest.
