Description

These two cottages, Sadlers and The End House, date from the early to mid-18th century, with a later 18th-century addition to the left. The construction is of knapped flint with brick quoins and dressings, with Flemish bond brickwork to the left-hand side. The roof is half-hipped and covered in old tiles, with a brick ridge and inserted brick stacks at the right end. The cottages are arranged with a two-unit plan, extended to three. The front has a three-window arrangement. The right-hand range features a segmental brick arch over a blocked doorway; flat brick arches over 19th-century three-light casement windows with Gothic heads to the right, and a three-light leaded casement over a 20th-century three-light casement to the left. A raised storey band runs along the front. The left bay has segmental brick arches over a 20th-century door and window. A 20th-century outshut is situated on the right side wall. The rear windows are a combination of iron and leaded casements. Internally, the cottages feature chamfered beams and a collar-truss roof. The interior of the left-hand cottage (No.62) was not inspected.
