Description

Overy Farmhouse, now a house, was built in the mid-18th century and extended in the late 18th century. It’s constructed of brick, with flared headers and some coursed clunch rubble, and has old plain-tile roofs and brick stacks. Originally a 2-unit plan, it was extended to a double-depth layout with a rear outshut. The symmetrical front has three windows and is built in a header bond with Flemish bond at a lower level; it features a storey band, stepped eaves course, gauged segmental arches, and red brick dressings. The central 4-panel door, with a flat canopy supported by shaped brackets, is flanked by three-light sash windows. The first floor has casements with 3, 2, and 3 lights respectively. The roof has gable stacks. The end walls are of rubble with brick dressings and return to a hipped roofed range running parallel, which features segmental arched casement windows, including one of 6 lights. The interior remains uninspected.
