Description

Bridge House is a substantial house that has been converted into three dwellings. It was built in the late 18th century and extended in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick with flared headers and features an old plain-tile roof with brick stacks. It has a double-depth plan and is designed in the late-Georgian style, standing two storeys tall.

The front of the house is symmetrical with three windows, made of flared bricks in header bond, and includes red-brick dressings and gauged arches. A central arched doorway features panelled reveals, a matching six-panel door, and an ornamental fanlight, all sheltered by a flat canopy supported by narrow columns. The flanking windows have tripartite sashes, while the first-floor windows have been reduced to 12-pane sashes, and there is an arched sash above the doorway. A brick dentil eaves course runs along the front and returns to the sides, although it only has moulded dentils at the front. The end walls have two windows and are constructed in Flemish bond with flared headers. The hipped roof extends to the ends and connects to a slightly later parallel rear range that features similar sashes. The house is further extended by a row of 19th-century brick and tiled buildings. The interiors have not been inspected.
