Description

Thurlfield Cottage is a small house dating from the late 17th or early 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with some timber framing and brick infill, and has a thatched roof with brick stacks. The original layout comprised two main rooms with a rear outshut. The house is a single storey with an attic. The three-window front demonstrates two distinct building phases; the left half features first-floor timber framing and brick dressings. Each half has a doorway and a three-light casement window. There are two dormers on the left side of the roof and one on the right. Stacks are located centrally and in the left gable. The long rear roof slope has a single, small inset dormer. The interior remains uninspected.
