Description

Merrick Cottage is a late 17th-century house located on the south side of Main Street in Forest Hill, near Shotover. It is constructed of colourwashed limestone rubble with squared quoins, featuring timber lintels and a thatched roof with brick gable stacks. The house follows a two-unit plan and has one storey with attics. The front has a two-window arrangement, including a three-light casement window to the left and a fixed small-pane window to the right. Two small, two-light dormers are set within heavy frames. A gable entrance is positioned to the right, within the chimney wall. The interior has not been inspected.
