Description
Minchincourt Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century, with possible earlier origins, and was extended in the 18th century and late 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble, partly roughcast, with some timber framing and brick infill, topped with an old plain-tile roof. The building has a cross-passage plan and is two storeys high.
The early 18th-century roughcast range features a six-panel door on the far left and two-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors. To the right, there is a short 18th-century range that is one storey plus an attic. A substantial late 19th-century range is located to the left, which includes an additional end range and a gabled projection with a canted bay. The right gable of the early range has an upper section made of brick, with exposed rafters crossing at the apex and supporting a ridge piece.
At the rear, there is timber framing with brick infill on the first floor, along with a rebuilt lateral stack. The remains of a shallow jetty supported by cross beams suggest that the farmhouse may have medieval origins. Inside, the farmhouse features very heavy chamfered cross beams.
