Description
No. 85 High Street is a house with a modern shop, originally built in the 17th to 18th century but altered over time, with the top floor likely being a later addition. The building is four stories tall, featuring a stuccoed timber-framed front from the 18th century, along with cellars and attics. It has a modillioned eaves cornice, a hipped roof, and brick stacks. The doorway is framed with a moulded design and has a semi-circular keystoned head. The first and second floors each have two 18th-century sash windows in moulded frames, with decorative paterae on the architraves; the windows on the first floor are complemented by small iron balconies. The third floor also has two sash windows, and above the cornice, the attic features one modern double sash window. Inside, the building includes an original staircase and original doorways. All the listed buildings on the south side of the street form a group.
