Description

Manor Farmhouse and the thatched cottage/cart entrance range are located on Hill Street in Hethe. The farmhouse dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone with brick window dressings and features a steeply pitched red-tile roof, along with stone ridge and end stacks that have brick shafts. The building has a three-unit through passage plan and stands two storeys plus an attic high, with a four-window range. The entrance, which is off-centre to the left, has a panelled and glazed door with a stone lintel, flanked by 12-pane sash windows with stone lintels. The first floor has four twelve-pane sashes with horns and wood lintels, and the roof has a single gabled dormer. There is a bread oven projection at the right angle of the farmhouse.

To the right is the thatched range, which includes a cottage, a cart entrance, and possibly a former barn that has been converted into a dwelling. This range is made of squared, coursed limestone rubble and has a steeply pitched thatched roof, with brick ridge stacks. Both dwellings in this range have a two-unit plan. The cottage on the left is single storey plus attic, with an entrance at the rear. The ground floor has two 2-light 20th-century casements with original wood lintels, and there is a central brick recess for a water pump with an arched brick head. It also features two gabled dormers with 20th-century windows. The cottage on the right is single storey with a 20th-century entrance and three 20th-century windows. A wide wood lintel below the eaves indicates the location of a possible former barn entrance, and limestone quoins are present. The interior has not been inspected.
