Description

Wykham Park, now a school boarding house and music rooms, features a range dating from the 17th century and earlier, with some remodeling in the 20th century. A datestone from 1619 is reset in the left end wall. The building is constructed of finely jointed ashlar ironstone and has a stone slate roof laid in diminishing courses, with a Welsh slate roof at the rear. The stone ridge and end stacks have been renewed, and there are stone copings with renewed stone kneelers, as well as a stone plinth. The structure consists of two storeys plus an attic and has a total of six windows across its façade. The main range is flanked by wings that each have one window width.

The main range features a 4-centred doorway on the left with chamfered soffit and jambs, leading to a plank door. This doorway is flanked by three-light stone-mullioned windows with hood moulds and label stops. To the right of the door, there is a small square recess with carved stone floral decoration. On the first floor, there are four three-light stone-mullioned windows, also with hood moulds and label stops. The side wings mirror this window arrangement, with four-light stone mullions on the ground and first floors and three-light stone mullions in the attic storey. All windows include hood moulds and label stops, and the return sides have 4-centred doorways with plank doors and hood moulds. Some windows feature wrought-iron casement fasteners. The interior has been remodeled, and large 20th-century additions to the rear are not of special architectural interest.
