Description

SP4631 DEDDINGTON HIGH STREET (West side) 8/174 Grove Cottages and adjoining garage range

GV II Farmhouse, now house and coach house/garage range. Early C18. Coursed squared marlstone; concrete plain-tile roof with brick end stacks. L plan. 2 storeys plus attic. Symmetrical 3-window front has a central fielded 4-panel door between 3-light windows, and has 2-light windows at first floor; all windows have C18/early Cl9 casements below rubble flat arches. Steep-pitched roof has 2 hipped roof dormers with 2-light leaded casements, and continues to right over a later range which includes a carriage entry, with double doors below an ashlar depressed arch, and has a double-doored entry to left and a narrower door to right, both with wooden lintels. Further wing to rear of house. Interior not inspected. Part of the garage range probably relates to Grove House (q.v.) to right.
