Description
Grove Cottages and the adjoining garage range is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house and coach house/garage range, dating from the early 18th century. It is built of coursed squared marlstone and features a concrete plain-tile roof with brick end stacks. The building is arranged in an L shape and consists of two storeys plus an attic.
The symmetrical front has three windows and a central fielded four-panel door, flanked by three-light windows, with two-light windows on the first floor. All windows have 18th century or early 19th century casements set beneath rubble flat arches. The steeply pitched roof includes two hipped roof dormers with two-light leaded casements. To the right, the roof extends over a later range that features a carriage entry with double doors beneath an ashlar depressed arch. There are also double-doored and narrower door entries to the left and right, respectively, both with wooden lintels. A further wing extends to the rear of the house. The interior has not been inspected. Part of the garage range likely relates to Grove House, which is located to the right.
