Description
Grove Cottage is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century. It is constructed from coursed squared marlstone and features wooden lintels, with a concrete plain-tile roof and brick gable stacks. The building has a short front range and a rear wing, standing two storeys tall. The front has two windows, with 18th or early 19th century two-light casements on the first floor. On the ground floor, there is a plank door on the far right, a renewed two-light casement to the left (which was originally wider and has a rubble flat arch), and between these, there is another casement that may have been altered from a doorway. The steep-pitched roof has a stack on the left side with a gable parapet. The building features a chamfered plinth that is rendered on the front and extends around the left gable wall to the contemporary rear wing. This wing has an old three-light casement on the first floor above a four-light casement that angles inward to a recessed plank door. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included for its group value.
