Description
Monk's Head is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled concrete tile roof. The building has a 19th-century brick ridge stack and a left end stack made of stone, which is finished in both 18th and 19th-century brick, while the right end stack is made of 20th-century brick. The house has a two-unit plan and is two storeys high, with a three-window range. Timber lintels are present over a 20th-century door and windows. At the rear, there is an 18th-century plank door and 18th-century two- and three-light wood-mullioned windows. A 20th-century garage is located to the left of the house. Inside, there are chamfered beams, a stop-chamfered bressumer over an open fireplace to the right, which is partially blocked by a 19th-century bread oven and features an early 18th-century spice cupboard door. The first floor includes an 18th-century plank door and a collar-truss roof with butt purlins.
