Description
This building, known as Banbury Bags and Baggage (No. 51) and Philippa Kendall (No. 52), consists of two shops that date back to the 17th century but were refronted in the early 19th century. It features a combination of red brick and timber framing, topped with a shallow pitched slate roof. There is a brick lateral stack at the rear. The structure is three storeys high and has a four-window range. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front, while the first floor displays two wide 4-pane sash windows and two 3-pane sash windows, all with keystoned voussoirs. The second floor contains four smaller windows of a similar style. The rear of No. 52 showcases pargetting with fleur de lys and heart-shaped patterns. It is believed that No. 52 originally had a jettied first floor, which is now obscured, and was constructed as a pair of double-fronted offices with living space above. The interior has not been inspected.
