Description
Nos. 53, 53A, 53B, and 54 on Parson's Street are houses, offices, and shops built around 1830 to 1840. They are constructed of painted brick, with a stucco front on Nos. 53 and 53A, and feature a slate roof with brick ridge and end stacks. The buildings rise three storeys and have a total of seven windows. The ground floor has 20th-century shop fronts, while the first floor includes three sash windows with moulded stone surrounds. To the right, four additional sash windows on the first floor have stone lintels and sills, with a corresponding arrangement on the second floor. Nos. 53 and 53A are distinguished by rusticated quoins. Inside, there is part of an early 19th-century staircase, along with panelled doors and moulded doorcases.
