Description
Lane Close is an 18th-century house with later alterations, constructed from squared, coursed ironstone. It features a steeply pitched slate roof with stone-coped gables and stone stacks, with brick shafts at the ridge and ends. The house has a 2-unit plan, with a later addition on the roadside and a gabled 2-storey porch at the rear. Tall casement windows, mostly with wood lintels, are present, along with two oval windows on the left end. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace and a chamfered beam. It is said to have once been the manor farmhouse and also served as a butcher's shop.
