Description
St John's Ambulance Headquarters, originally a bank, was built in 1840 and is designed in the Italianate style. The building features a brick structure with a stucco front and a rusticated ground floor. It has a hipped Welsh slate roof and stands two storeys tall with a three-window range. To the right, there is a six-panelled door with an overlight, while to the left are two tall wood mullioned and transomed windows. The recessed openings are adorned with scrolled keystones. On the first floor, there are three sash windows with glazing bars, each framed by moulded stone surrounds, and the central window features a triangular pediment. Moulded cornices are present on the sides, and there is a keystoned archway leading to a passage on the right, with a window above it. A balcony with a wrought-iron railing is located on the first floor, and the building is topped with a moulded and dentilled stone eaves cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
