BANBURY MARKET PLACE SP4540NE (North side) 7/110 No.26 (St. John's Ambulance 07/10/69 Headquarters) Corn Hill (Formerly listed as No.26) GV II

Bank, now St. John's Ambulance headquarters. 1840. Italianate style. Brick, stucco fronted. Rusticated ground floor. Hipped Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys; 3-window range. 6-panelled door to right has overlight. To left 2 tall wood mullioned and transomed windows. Recessed openings have scrolled keystones. First floor has 3 sashes with glazing bars, and moulded stone surrounds. Central window has triangular pediment. Moulded cornices to sides. Keystoned archway to passage to right with window above. Balcony with wrought-iron railing to first floor. Moulded and dentilled stone eaves cornice. Interior not inspected. (Buildings of England: Oxfordshire, 1974, p.439).
