Description

Lloyd's Bank is a bank building dating from around 1840, located on Park Street in Shifnal. It is constructed of stucco and features a two-span slate roof. The building has two storeys and is designed with a plinth, ground floor that has channelled rustication, a ground floor cill string, a first floor cill cornice, a bracketed eaves cornice, and twin triangular pedimented gable ends.

The façade consists of five bays, with glazing bar sash windows on the first floor, although the rightmost window is blind. The ground floor windows have plate glass lower sections, channelled voussoirs, and projecting keystones with vermiculated rustication. A central projecting three-bay flat bay with rounded corners is present, with pilasters on each floor. The ground floor pilasters feature a frieze and cornice that break forward adorned with wreaths, while the first floor pilasters have applied lion masks and wreaths that support a frieze, cornice, and a blocking course with a raised centre.

On the first floor, there are central round-arched windows flanked by two blind arched windows. The ground floor has two round-arched windows with blank panels beneath, flanking a central round-arched entrance that features an eight-panelled door and a projecting keystone with vermiculated rustication. A half-glazed door is set within a porch.

The north front has three bays, with the outer bays projecting and featuring triangular pedimented gables above. The central entrance includes a six-panelled door with a wreathed radial fanlight, and it possibly has a later 18th-century doorcase made up of unfluted three-quarter Doric columns, a triglyph frieze, and an open triangular pediment.
