Description

The Old Manor is a house that consists of two sections built in the 17th and 18th centuries, forming an L-shaped plan. The right part is made of regularly coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched 20th-century tile roof with two brick end stacks on stone bases. This section has a two-unit plan and is two storeys tall with an attic. On the left side, there is a tall three-light casement window with a 20th-century wooden lintel. The first floor has two two-light stone mullioned windows with renewed stonework, both featuring hood moulds and label stops. A hipped 20th-century full dormer is also present, along with ironstone quoins and a 20th-century entrance into the middle part.

The left part of the house is positioned at right angles to the road and is also constructed from regularly coursed ironstone rubble, topped with a 20th-century tile roof. This section is a single storey plus attic with a single-unit plan and has a brick end stack. It includes a three-light stone mullioned window to the cellar and four three-light casement windows on both the ground floor and attic, all with wooden lintels. Ironstone quoins and a 20th-century eaves dormer are additional features. The stables are noted to have a datestone marked WC1759, indicating they were associated with William Cartwright. The interior has not been inspected.
