Description
The School House is a former schoolmaster's house, now a residential property, built around 1854, likely by architect J.C. Buckler. It is constructed of coursed squared marlstone with ashlar dressings and features a Stonesfield-slate roof with ashlar stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and is designed in the Gothic style, consisting of one storey plus an attic.
The front elevation facing the road has double gables and three windows, rising from a chamfered plinth and separated by a stepped buttress. The windows are stone-mullioned, featuring two- and three-light configurations with trefoil heads and lattice glazing. The left side of the building has a similar two-light window, along with the entrance that has a Caernarvon-arched head beneath a stone-gabled half dormer, which contains a small trefoil-headed two-light window. All gables are topped with stone parapets and projecting kneelers. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
