Description
The Sunday School, built in 1831 and extended in the late 19th and 20th centuries, features a combination of marlstone ashlar and brick with Welsh-slate roofs. It has an L-shaped plan with an added rear wing and an infill section. Designed in the Gothic style, the building is single storey. The front range showcases three 3-light stone-mullioned windows with labels, featuring richly-moulded lights with cusped semi-circular heads and recessed spandrels. Between the second and third bays is a 4-centre arched door, adorned with a label and lozenge spandrels, which retains a studded door with scrolled hinges. The gable parapets are decorated with projecting moulded kneelers, and the steep-pitched roof is topped with crested ridge tiles. Both gable walls include large sash windows. The rear wing, which extends from the right, is also constructed of stone, while a further range behind it is made of brick, and the 20th-century infill features a flat roof. The head of the doorway is inscribed with "ADDERBURY SUNDAY SCHOOL/MDCCCXXXI". The interior has not been inspected.
