Description

This building, originally St. Leonards Primary School, is now used as offices. It was constructed between 1860 and 1861 by the architect G.E. Street. The structure is made of coursed squared limestone and features a steeply pitched slate roof with stone copings and ornamental ridge tiles. There is a stone lateral stack.

The main facade faces Middleton Road and consists of a long rectangular range with two projecting wings; one is to the left and the other is on the return of the right wing. The entrance includes pointed arched doorways with chamfered soffits and plank doors fitted with wrought iron hinges. The wings are adorned with tall pointed arched three-light windows that feature lancets, quatrefoils, and cusped heads, while other windows on the building are square-headed.

There is an attached rear range that was added in 1902, but it is not of special architectural interest. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
