Description

The Old School is a school building dating from 1853, designed by G.E. Street. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with limestone ashlar dressings and brick quoins, featuring an original tile roof and brick stacks. The building is single storey and has a Gothic Revival style, with a 2:1:2 arrangement of windows broken by a gabled central wing.

On the left side, there is a plank door set in a pointed arch with a chamfered architrave, flanked by 2- and 3-light stone mullioned windows that have square trefoiled heads. The gable wall of the projecting wing features a late 13th-century style 2-light window. The right wall includes a central plank door with an original knocker, also in a pointed arch with a chamfered architrave, accompanied by similar 2-light windows—one to the left and two to the right, with the last two having blind cusped heads.

The roof is gabled, with a ridge stack on the front projecting wing and a gable end stack to the right. The left side wall of the gabled projection has another plank door in a pointed arch with a chamfered architrave, while the right gable wall has two 20th-century casements on the ground floor and two 2-light stone-mullioned windows with blind trefoiled heads. The interior has not been inspected.
