Description
St. Leonards C.E. School and Head Teacher's House is a school and house built in the early 19th century and enlarged in 1843. It is constructed of red brick, with granite and slate rubble stone on the left end and rear. The building features a Swithland slate roof with coped brick gables and a ridge stack located at the center left, along with three additional stacks at the rear. The long, one-storey range is designed in a Tudor style and includes four 2-light casement windows with hood moulds, situated on either side of a coped gabled projecting porch. Above the porch arch, there is a carved Griffin crest and a tablet inscribed with "1843." The sides of the porch have one-light windows. The house is located to the left, while the school is on the right. There is a one-storey extension on the right end featuring a one-light window at the front, with a door flanked by one-light windows and hood moulds above on the end. The building also includes a 20th-century one-storey extension at the rear.
