Description
The Tilting Bridge, located approximately 800 meters north of the Twyford Road Canal Bridge on the Oxford Canal, is a canal bridge dating from the late 18th century, with repairs made in the 20th century. It features a wooden tilting design, complete with inclined counterweight beams that have been renewed. The bridge is supported by brick abutments that splay outwards and diminish in size, and these abutments are complemented by projecting limestone fender blocks. This bridge was designed by James Brindley and is a notable example found along the Oxford Canal.
