Description
The Tilting Bridge, located approximately 400 meters north of Twyford Road Canal Bridge on the Oxford Canal, is a canal bridge from the late 18th century that underwent repairs in the 20th century. It features a wooden tilting mechanism with inclined counterweight beams that have been renewed. The bridge is supported by brick abutments that splay outwards and diminish in size, and these abutments are enhanced with projecting limestone fender blocks. This bridge was designed by James Brindley and is a notable feature along the Oxford Canal.
