Description
Brookfurlong Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It is built from coursed limestone rubble and features roofs made of Stonesfield slate and plain tiles, with brick gable stacks. The building has an L-plan layout and consists of two storeys plus an attic.
The front of the farmhouse includes a central doorway flanked by tall two-light casement windows, all of which have dressed flat arches. On the first floor, there are similar windows in the outer bays, a single-light window above the doorway, and an inserted single-light window to the left of center. The roof has three gabled dormers, a stack on the right, and is hipped on the left, returning to a rear gable that has another stack. A rear wing extends on the left at a slightly lower level, while the rest of the rear wall is hidden by an added outshut, which is likely nearly contemporary with the original structure.
Inside, there is a central winder stair that leads to the attic, heavy chamfered beams, wide plank doors, and a butt-purlin roof with cambered collars. The farmhouse was known as Coldharbour Farm in 1797.
