Description

Greystones is a house dating from the late 17th or early 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with wooden lintels, and has a Stonesfield-slate roof with rubble and brick stacks. The house has a three-unit, gable-fronted plan, with two storeys and an attic.

The front elevation has aligned casement windows of three, two, and two lights, with smaller flanking windows on both the ground and first floors that were likely inserted later. A doorway is located on the left side. Set into the gable is a large sundial dated 1776. The left side wall features additional casement windows and some chamfered lintels. The roof includes a 20th-century dormer and a large brick ridge stack on a rubble base, with a second stack at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.

Greystones is designated at Grade II for its early fabric, representing a surviving vernacular house from the late 17th or early 18th century.
