Description
The Monks Cottage is a house that was formerly divided into three cottages, dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with wooden lintels and features a thatched roof with rubble and brick stacks. The building has an L-plan layout and is one storey plus an attic.
The garden front is long and irregular, with two entrances located near the ends. It includes four casement windows with three lights and five first-floor windows, most of which are half dormers. All windows have leaded glazing, with some being quite old. The left gable wall features large leaded casements. The rear wing, which faces the road on the right, has segmental-arched openings and additional dormers. The rear wall curves around the boundary of the churchyard and has a rounded projection that once contained a stair. Inside, there are some chamfered beams.
