Description
The Tithe Barn Range to the rear of The Old Rectory is a building that likely dates from the late 17th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a Stonesfield-slate roof. The structure consists of a single range that includes a six-bay barn and a two-bay coach house. The front of the barn has an irregular arrangement of casement windows, some of which are old and have leaded glazing. To the far right, there is a 20th-century garage door. The coach house, located to the right, has additional garage doors along with casements and loft doors above. Inside, the barn has a butt-purlin roof supported by ties, collars, and raking struts for each truss, although this is partly hidden by a boarded ceiling. The Old Rectory was built between 1689 and 1690 for Dr. Robert South, and a late 17th-century engraving of the property includes the barn range. This building is included for its group value.
