Description

This canal bridge, located 400 meters north of Dashwood Lock, dates from around 1790. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble with some ashlar dressings. The bridge features a wide segmental arch made of ashlar voussoirs that spring from projecting wedge-shaped imposts, which are connected to a plain ashlar hood above the arch by a projecting keyblock. The solid parapet rises over the arch from square rubble piers. On the north face of the bridge, there is a cast-iron plate inscribed with the number "208".
