Description
Nos. 5 and 6 are two cottages located in Rousham, dating from the early to mid 18th century, with some alterations made in the mid 19th century. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble and feature a gabled stone slate roof with stone end stacks. The cottages have a four-unit plan, are two storeys high, and present a four-window range. The front has timber lintels above two mid 19th-century plank doors, a central 20th-century light, and 19th-century two-light casements with iron opening lights. At the rear, there are mid 19th-century service ranges with Welsh slate roofs. Inside No. 5, there are chamfered beams, a chamfered bressumer over an open fireplace, mid 19th-century quarter-turn stairs, and an 18th-century plank door leading to the attic. No. 6 has not been inspected but is expected to have interesting features as well.
