Description
Mead Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with remodelling in the 18th century. It is constructed of regularly coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched stone slate roof laid to diminishing courses, along with stone end and lateral stacks. The building has a 4-unit plan and stands two storeys plus an attic, with a five-window range. The central 20th-century panelled door has keystoned surrounds, and there are two casement windows on either side, also with keystoned surrounds. The first floor includes four casement windows and a central blocked window, while all attic windows have stone flat arches. There are two gabled roof dormers and two single-storey wings at the rear. Inside, the farmhouse features stop-chamfered beams and joists, a framed newel staircase, and an inglenook fireplace.
