Description

The chest tomb to Robert Austin, located approximately 2 metres east of the chancel of the Church of Saint Nicholas, is a Grade II listed structure from the 17th century. Made of ironstone, the tomb features panelled sides adorned with Ionic columns and decorative panels that include inscriptions. The decoration incorporates scrolls and foliage. The thick stone slab has hollow chamfers. The inscription reads: "Mr Robert Austin of this parish, gentleman who departed this life Anno Domini 1665."
