Description

The North Arms Public House is a building that originally served as a house and cottage, dating from the late 17th century, with a refacing from the early 19th century on the left part. It is constructed of ironstone ashlar and coursed ironstone rubble, featuring steeply pitched thatched roofs with renewed brick ridges and end stacks. The layout consists of a main building with two storeys plus an attic, alongside two single-storey parts on the right, creating a total of four windows across the façade.

There are four entrances, each with renewed plank doors topped by stone flat arches or wooden lintels. The main section has two imitation wood mullioned and transomed windows on the ground floor and two originally three-light wood mullioned and transomed windows on the first floor, which have been fitted with renewed wood casements. Additionally, two dormers in the roof feature three-light wood casements. The left gable is stone coped with a moulded kneeler, and there is an arris on the left that is chamfered up to the first floor. A sundial is positioned above the doorway. The right part of the building has renewed casements and an imitation stone mullioned and transomed window with chamfered wood lintels. Inside, there is a fireplace with a bressumer and chamfered beams.
