Description

Sunrise is a Grade II listed building that consists of two cottages, now converted into a house. The structure dates from the 17th century, with later extensions. It is built from coursed ironstone rubble and features a thatched roof. The left side of the building is a two-unit layout, while the right side is a single unit. The entire building is single storey plus attic.

On the left side, there is an off-centre door to the right, which is sheltered by a thatched rustic porch added in the 20th century. This door is flanked by two 20th-century casement windows with wooden lintels, and above, there are two 3-light casements in the attic, partly covered by thatch. A brick ridge stack is present on this side.

The earlier part of the building on the right has a taller, narrower frontage and features two 3-light casements with wooden lintels on the ground floor. There is a blocked doorway situated between the windows, and a single eyebrow dormer is present in the attic.

Inside, the right side of the entrance features stop-chamfered beams and joists in the rooms. A wooden spiral staircase is located in the north wall of the earlier section, while a straight flight with a winder leads to the later part. There is a 2-light casement with a wrought iron catch in the rear wall of the later section, which now serves as an internal wall to a 20th-century kitchen extension. The room to the south in the later part is reputed by the owner to have been a barn.
