Description
Mounts Farm Cottage is a Grade II listed house that dates back to the late Medieval period, featuring a hall-house with a cross wing and an 18th-century addition on the right side. The left part of the cottage is timber-framed, showcasing exposed box framing with plaster infill, while the ground floor is constructed of red brick. The right side has two brick gables and is topped with a steeply pitched old tiled roof that has a gablet on the left and a cruciform late 16th-century brick chimneystack.
The cottage is two storeys tall with attics and has four windows, some of which feature mullions and others are casements. The left section includes a gabled dormer and two mullioned windows, one of which is original, along with a late brick lean-to porch. The 18th-century brick addition is also two storeys high with an attic, featuring one window with a half-hipped roof and a stringcourse, as well as a band across. The addition has a cambered architrave on the first-floor casement window. The north side of the addition includes two ground floor windows and one first-floor window, all with cambered head linings.
