Description

Ivy House Farmhouse is a single-bay open hall dwelling dating from approximately 1460, with alterations to the solar around 1500. The house is timber-framed with plaster infilling, except for the tile-hung west wing, which features curved braces on the first floor. The ground floor has been rebuilt in red brick and under-built. It has a tiled gabled roof, with the north end recently re-roofed. The two-storey, three-window front features casement windows. A porch with a sloping tiled roof is located on the left-hand side. A small pentice addition is present on the north side of the west wing. Inside, a fireplace was inserted during the first half of the 17th century. A single crown-post remains visible within the roof, alongside rafters showing signs of soot. The house retains roughly trimmed bough joists.
