Description
Valley House is a much restored 15th-century L-shaped timber-framed hall house situated on a stone base, located on the south side of Pennington Road in Southborough. The building is mostly tile-hung, with exposed timbering on the first floor of the easternmost bay, which is studded and overhangs on a bressummer, with ends of the floor joists visible. The gable above is plastered and features a slight jetty on the bressummer and brackets, along with an attic window. The house has a steeply pitched plain tiled roof and stands two storeys high, displaying a slightly irregular three-window front to the north and east, with modern casements. A gabled porch is located at the west end of the north front, featuring a 17th-century boarded door. Inside, there is a mid-16th-century fireplace with a long chamfered bressummer.
