Description

Stuart Cottage is an L-shaped timber-framed farmhouse, possibly dating from the 16th century, which has been divided but is now recently re-united. The building has been largely refaced, although some timber framing with brick infilling can still be seen in part of the south-east wall. The west front is completely weather-boarded and partly timbered with brick infilling, while the first floor is entirely tile-hung. The roof is half-hipped and tiled, featuring an off-centre ridge stack to the right. The cottage has two storeys and is three windows wide, with modern casements. The entrance is located to the right, and a ground-floor verandah has been added to the west front. Inside, there is a stone fireplace from the 16th century with a shallowed four-centred arch reveal.
