Description

Lindridge Place is a house dating from the mid-16th century, located in Lamberhurst. Originally a timber-framed building, it was later clad with red and blue chequered brick on the ground floor, tile hanging on the first floor, and weatherboarding to the gables and rear elevation. The roof is tiled, and the house follows a lobby entry plan of four framed bays.

The house has two storeys, with a break in the brick bonding to the right-end bay. The roof is hipped to the left side with a gablet, and gabled to the right, featuring a 19th-century projecting stack at the right end and a moulded cluster to the centre left. The first floor has four two-light wooden casement windows. On the ground floor, the windows are three-light, five-light, and two-light wooden casements, with a small, round-headed leaded light to the left of the two-panelled front door, which is centrally positioned. The door has a gabled hood supported by brackets.

Later additions include a 20th-century brick conservatory with a hipped roof on the right return, and a single-storey, flat-roofed extension at the rear. A single-storey, gabled service wing projects to the left, featuring a half-hipped roof with a triangular-headed casement in the loft and boarded carriage doors in the gable end. It also has a glazed door and casements to the left return, with weather boarding. A gabled, two-storey wing is attached to the left of the main range, set further back.

The interior reportedly contains a soot-blackened smoke bay, with a stack inserted at a later date.
