Description

This listing describes a group of outbuildings, including stables, a barn, and a storage building, located immediately northwest of a house called Poplars. These structures likely date from the 19th century or earlier. They are constructed with a framed design and are clad in weatherboarding, except for the north elevation of the stables, which is rendered. The roofs are covered with peg tiles.

The buildings are arranged in two ranges around a courtyard, positioned slightly to the west of the main house. Access to the western part of the house is through the courtyard and a drangway located in the stable range, which forms the northwest boundary of the garden. The stable range has a roof that runs along a west-east axis, while the barn and outbuilding are positioned at right angles, meeting at the northeast corner.

On the exterior, the stable range features weatherboarding on the south side and rendering on the north side. The roof extends over a drangway to the west of the stable range. There are four stable doors facing the courtyard on the north side. The barn has a half-hipped roof at the south end and a gabled roof at the right end. It consists of three bays with paired doors in the center on the east side and opposing doors on the west side. The east side also includes a loft door to the right and a ground floor window adjacent to it. Attached to the barn at the right (north) end is a lower-roofed outbuilding, which has paired doors on the left and a smaller doorway on the right.

The interior of the buildings was not inspected. These outbuildings are included for their group value with Poplars.
