Description
The stables at Edgerston House date from the early 19th century, possibly incorporating some earlier elements, and have undergone many later additions and alterations. They are located between the main house and the walled garden and consist of a quadrangular stable block made up of two L-shaped ranges. The exterior is harled with droved ashlar dressings, featuring chamfered reveals and piended slate roofs.
To the north, there is a single-storey, six-bay range that contains fitted stalls and ventilators, along with 8-pane timber sash and case windows. Adjoining to the west is a five-bay barn that has a blank wall to the south and a hay-loft above, which is accessed from the east. The west wall of the barn incorporates a 17th-century armorial panel of the Rutherfurd family and a semicircular stone with cabled spokes. There is a new garage door in the south wall, and the structure includes some old brick and timber construction, as well as 16-pane timber sash and case windows that have been somewhat altered.
To the southeast, there is a detached single-storey residential range in an L-plan, which has been restored and extended with dormers. The south range features a pair of three-bay cottages, each with two flat-roofed slate-hung dormers flanking a garage that has a similar dormer. The east range is situated on higher ground and contains two three-bay cottages, with the cottage on the right having a blocked door that is entered from the courtyard. The windows in this range include 8-pane timber sash and case windows, with one large metal casement window to the east. There are two stugged ashlar stacks, while the others are harled.
Additionally, there is a detached harled three-bay cottage to the south, which has a piended slate roof with overhanging eaves and 12-pane timber sash and case windows, with bipartite windows at the front featuring timber mullions.
