Description
Home Farm, located to the west of Edgerston House, features an irregularly grouped steading. The farmhouse, dated 1839 with alterations made in 1920, is a two-storey gabled T-plan structure with an advanced entrance bay and a single-storey piend-roofed addition to the northwest. The front is constructed of rubble whinstone, while the other elevations are rendered, with long and short grey ashlar dressings and chamfered arrises.
The east elevation, which serves as the entrance, has a three-bay gabled projecting jamb with a boarded door at the center, accessed by three steps. Above the door, a stone with the initials TR and the date 1695 rests on the lintel. There are narrow flanking windows at the ground level with the dates 1839 and 1920 inscribed in their cills, and a single window above in the gable. The single-storey flanking bays feature large box dormers.
The windows are small-pane timber sash and case types, along with metal casement dormer windows. The roof is covered with grey slates and has projecting eaves.
Additionally, there is an implement shed from the early 19th century, which is a rectangular rubble structure topped with a piended slate roof. It has a five-bay open northern wall supported by massive ashlar columns.
